       Soorya Krishnamoorthy, founder of SOORYA Stage and Film Society the biggest cultural society of the World and also the Best run society in the country. Soorya has its Chapters in 22 cites in the world - Singapore (Singapore), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Penang (Malaysia), Seramban (Malaysia), Melbourne, Sydney, Perth (Australia) , London, Manchester (UK), Zurich (Switzerland), Vienna (Austria), Rome (Italy), Köln (Germany), Dublin (Ireland), Bahrain (Bahrain), Kuwait (Kuwait), Abu Dhabi (UAE), Dubai (UAE), Muscat (Oman), Doha (Qatar), Damam, Riyad, Jeddah (Saudi Arabia). Soorya also has it’s actively working Chapters in 7 Cities in India ie. Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Dombvili, Pondicherry, Pune and New Delhi – and also in 14 districts of Kerala – Trivandrum, Kollam, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Idukki, Trissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode,  Kannur, Malappuram, Kasargode and Wynad.   Soorya aims at dissemination of the rich Indian Culture and achieving “Integration through Culture”.  Soorya is now heading towards the 35th year of it’s dedicated service for the cause of promotion of art and culture.
 
        Soorya Krishnamoorthy is the pioneer of the first Light and Sound show in Malayalam, Mr.Soorya Krishnamoorthy also ventured in to the first ever mobile Light and Sound Show and a new theatrical art form - "THEATRE OF FREEDOM". This theatre movement is also heading towards 35th year.

  • Soorya Krishnamoorthy - Man of the Year 2003.
  • Soorya is the largest cultural society of the World.
  • Soorya Festival is the largest and the longest Festival of Asia (111 continuous days).
 
Personal Profile
 
 
Born on 11th of April 1951, in Kottayam District of Kerala State in a family of renowned Engineers, belonging to the erstwhile Travancore State.
   
  Father - the late. T. Nataraja Pillai was the Chief Engineer of Kerala State.
   
  Mother - the late C. Saraswathi Amma, was an active member of the Gandhi peace foundation.
   
Scholastic Record
   
  Schooling in Model High School, Trivandrum, passed out in 1965
   
  Pre- Degree in Government Arts College Trivandrum passed out in 1967.
   
 
Degree in professional course (Engineering), Bachelor of Engineering, from TKM college of Engineering, Kollam, passed out in 1971.
   
Other Affiliations
   
 
While studying for Pre-Degree, became the secretary general of the College Union, and won with a record majority of votes in Kerala University.
   
  Represented Kerala State and Kerala University for Badminton(shuttle)
   
Professional Record
   
  Joined Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) as a scientist/engineer in 1972.
   
 
Worked under scientists, Bharat Ratna A. P. J. Adbul Kalam, C. R. Sathya, Padmashri M. R. Kurup, Padmashri Dr. V. R. Gowarikar, Padmashri. S. Srinivasan- and the like, for a period of 27 years, and later, took voluntary retirement, to concentrate more on cultural activities.
